Mercy Hospital has expanded its building and parking capacity at its current location. The enhanced entrance has a direct connection to a new parking ramp. The campus also has a newly expanded ICU and operating room, along with pre and post operative areas. All work at Mercy Hospital is expected to be complete by late 2018.
Allina Health combined its obstetrical services from Mercy and Unity Hospitals into one, all-inclusive program at the Mother Baby Center at Mercy Hospital, which opened July 27, 2015. The new facility is a partnership between Allina Health and Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
RMS Company to Expand Facility and Add Jobs
RMS Company, which currently has 711 employees in Coon Rapids, and is the city's largest private employer, has completed a large expansion at its Coon Rapids location. A subsidiary of Cretex Companies, Inc., based in Elk River, RMS Company manufactures machined and molded components used in the medical device and aerospace industries. Located at 8600 Evergreen Boulevard since 1992, RMS completed expansions in 1998, 2006, and 2011.
The expansion involved the construction of a 60,000 square foot addition of manufacturing space to its 215,000 square foot Evergreen Boulevard location. The company plans to create at least 100 new jobs within two years of completing the project. RMS Company is an international supplier and contract manufacturer to top medical device manufacturers.
Founded in 1967, RMS Company has built its reputation as a premier manufacturer of components for the orthopedic and other medical device markets. In 1982, RMS was acquired by the Cretex Companies, a privately held, financially strong, Minnesota-based corporation. Coon Rapids has a relatively high concentration of residents employed in the manufacturing sector, with over 5,700 Coon Rapids residents employed in manufacturing. In order to facilitate the project, the City helped RMS Company secure a $700,000 forgivable loan from the Minnesota Investment Fund (MIF).

A 128-unit market-rate apartment building on the former site of Pederson Floral, located on Coon Rapids Boulevard near Pheasant Ridge Drive.
A Honda dealership on the northwest corner of Hwy. 10 and Hanson Blvd.
A new Nissan dealership near Hwy. 10 and Hanson Blvd. It is anticipated the existing Nissan dealership on Northdale Blvd. will be reoccupied with a different franchise.
A multi-tenant retail building located at 124th Ave. & River Rapids Dr.
The Planning Commission has also approved a conditional use permit to North Star Community Church to turn the American Legion building on Crooked Lake Boulevard into a church. The American Legion Post 334 is looking to occupy a smaller building in Coon Rapids.
Renovation of the former Pizza Hut building located on Coon Rapids Boulevard. This will now become Coin Laundry.
